Tigers Win Opener, Coach Niven Secures First Varsity Win

Posted on:

Under blue skies and windy conditions the North Allegheny boys’ golf team opened its season with a 186-192 victory over the Hampton Talbots. The win also marked the first for new varsity head coach Pat Niven, replacing long-time coach Dede Rittman who retired last school year. Niven had spent many years as the Tigers JV coach prior to taking over the varsity coach position this season.

Junior Kyle Dewey led the charge with an even par 35 to secure the win at Diamond Run Golf Club. Junior Ryan Dougherty and senior Noah Wessel had strong showings as each shot a 36. Juniors Pat Narduzzi and David Mrazik tallied scores of 38 and 41, respectively. Sophomore Luke Minsky closed out the scoring with a 43. Hampton was led by Ben Huber who shot a 37.

North Allegheny will try to build off its season opening win with a visit to Mars this afternoon at 3:15 pm.
