Tigers win State College Invitational

North Allegheny traveled east to State College High School to take part in the State College Invitational on Saturday. The Tigers were dominant all day posting a 12-1 record in the invitational and coming away with the tournament title. It is North Allegheny’s third invitational title this season.

NA went 9-1 in pool play which consisted of games against Central Dauphin, Northeastern, State College, Governor Mifflin and Trinity.

The 9-1 record gave North Allegheny a bye to the quarterfinals where they defeated Governor Mifflin. NA took down Northeastern in the semifinals and Landisville Hempfield in the title match to win the tournament.

Will Robertson led the Tigers offensively on the day with 36 kills. He also had 17 digs. Brendan Moore had 24 kills, eight aces and five blocks. Peter Bratich added 21 kills to go along with 12 blocks. Nathan May had 18 kills and 11 blocks. Ethan Palmer helped with 10 kills. Jackson Failla dished out 18 assists and had five blocks. Aaron Starck had five blocks at the net. Emmett Morris paced NA defensively with 47 digs. Elliot Swierczynski had 70 assists along with 16 digs. Nicholas DiPrato added 15 digs and Josh Chou had 16 helpers.

The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday when they take the short trip to Shaler High School for the Shaler Invitational.
