Two NA divers sign letters of intent
Two North Allegheny divers signed letters of intent on Friday afternoon to continue their careers at the next level. Lola Malarky signed with Yale University while Juliet Hood made her commitment official to Trinity University in San Antonio.
Malarky was a 2024 WPIAL Diving Champion, she also took bronze in the event in 2023 and was a fourth place finisher in 2022. At the PIAA level, Malarky won bronze in both 2023 and 2024 while being a seventh place finisher in 2022. She has been an AAU USA National Team Member along with being a two-time USA Diving National Qualifier. Malarky had a great week breaking the pool record at Upper St. Clair on Tuesday and the North Allegheny pool and school record on Thursday. Malarky will major in Economics and Environmental Sciences at Yale.
Hood transitioned from a successful career in gymnastics to diving in her sophomore year. She has since become a valuable asset to the NA swimming & diving program. Her junior year, Hood won the silver medal at both the WPIAL and PIAA Championships. At the PIAA Championships, she scored a score of 441.55, helping the team secure the 2024 PIAA Team Championship. Hood also received All-American honors for her diving in 2024. Hood also competes in club diving with the Pitt Gymnastics Club, where she has secured spots to compete nationally on both the 1-meter and 3-meter. Hood intends to pursue Marketing and Psychology at Trinity University.
Both were key contributors to a NA girls team that won their 16th consecutive WPIAL Championship and second straight state title.
