Two Tigers Named To All-State Softball Team

Two members of the North Allegheny softball team were recognized for their efforts at the state level on Tuesday.
Sophomores Zoe Rychel and Leah Carlson earned 6A second-team nods on the Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association All-State team. This is the third honor of the year for the duo, as they were both named first-team Big 56 All-Conference and All-WPIAL players as well.
Rychel was tabbed second-team all-state at second base. In 19 games played, she batted .438 with 28 hits, including 12 doubles, 13 RBI and 13 runs scored. In the field, she boasted a .984 fielding percentage with 51 putouts and nine assists.
Carlson was named to the second-team all-state roster as an outfieler. She also played in 19 games with a .421 batting average on 24 hits, including six doubles, three triples and a home run. She also had eight RBI and 16 runs scored. Carlson had an .867 fielding percentage with 25 putouts and an assist.

Earlier this summer, senior Sammy Plotsko was also named to the 6A All-WPIAL Team, while earning first-team Big 56 All-Conference accolades with Rychel and Carlson. Plotsko finished her Tiger career with a .313 average in her final season on 20 hits, including three doubles, two home runs, 16 RBI and nine runs scored. She was also impressive from the circle with a 7-1 record, 86 strikeouts and a 3.54 ERA.
