LADY TIGERS WIN DUQUESNE INVITATIONAL; BOYS FINISH THIRD

Senior Amy Ruffalo took second place and the Lady Tigers placed four runners in the top fifteen as they cruised to an easy victory in the Duquesne Invitational at Schenley Park on Saturday morning. The boys' team, led by sophomore Max Brown's 10th place finish, came in third behind North Hills and Mt. Lebanon.

In the girls' race, Ruffalo was in a two-girl race with Kaitlin Grimm of Penn Hills. After leading for most of the race, Grimm came from behind to win by six seconds. Ruffalo was happy with the team result as NA was far ahead of their closest competitor, neighborhood rival North Hills.
Sophomore Kelley O'Brien came in 10th, Allie Moravec 12th, and junior Lindsay Schmiedel was 15th. It was a big victory for the Lady Tigers and should give them confidence in the upcoming season.

The boys' competition was dominated by North Hills and Mt. Lebanon, but the Tigers showed strength in coming in third. Most of the top teams in western Pennsylvania were there, and the showing by NA gives Coach Jim LeDonne a good base to build on for the season.

The section season will begin this afternoon when the NA squads will host the Knoch Knights in the section opener. All the action will take place at the Intermediate High School with meet time scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm.
The Lady Tigers are the defending section champions and were the runnerup to Mt. Lebanon in the WPIAL meet last year. NA finished in 9th place at the statemeet. The boys'team finished third in the section but came on to take a fourth place at the WPIAL meet.
