Also scoring points for the Lady Tigers were freshman Allie Moravec (30th), sophomore Michelle Diez (41st), and junior Lindsay Schmiedel (49th). NA scored 13 points to second place West Allegheny's 145. The boys' team finished in fifth place, just one place out of qualifying for the PIAA meet. Sophomore Max Brown finished in 29th place with sophomore John Boujoukos next in 36th position. Brown qualified for the individual PIAA final. The Tigers scored 239 points to finish behind Baldwin's 194. North Hills won the team title. The PIAA Championships will be held in Hershey next Saturday, November 1. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS TAKE TRI-STATE TITLE; BOYS FINISH THIRD Behind the third-place finish of senior Amy Ruffolo, the Lady Tigers won the prestigious Tri-State Coaches Invitational at Slippery Rock University on Thursday afternoon. NA totaled 112 points to Mt. Lebanon's 138. The boys' team took third place behind North Hills and Mt. Lebanon. Senior Jesse Snider led the Tigers, finishing in 13th place. The Lady Tigers were running without one of their top runners, sophomore Kelley O'Brien. Because of illness and injury, NA has run only one race all year with all runners healthy. According to Coach Jim LeDonne, "I held Kelly out today to make sure she's OK for the WPIALs". Freshman Allie Moravec came in 17th and sophomore Michelle Diez was 20th for the winning Lady Tigers. The Tri-State meet is important for two reasons: one, it is held on the same course that the WPIAL championship will be run next week, and, two, all the top teams ran in the race. It is usually a good barometer of where teams are just a week before the final. Looking at the results yesterday, it looks like NA is in good shape for next week's WPIAL championship.
