NA FESTIVAL TEAM AT AWARDS CEREMONY

LADY TIGERS WIN TWO, CAPTURE MSLA FESTIVAL

by Harry Datz

On Friday, May 21, the NA girls' lacrosse team traveled to the Nichols School in Buffalo, New York, to play in the 2004 MSLA Festival.  The weekend included a dinner trip to the Hard Rock  Cafe in Niagara Fall, USA, on Friday night and a rainy Saturday night at Six Flags, Darien Lakes.

On Saturday, the Lady Tigers won games against South Lyon of Michigan, 5-4 in overtime, and Taylor Allderdice of Pittsburgh, 6-3.  Against South Lyon, senior Meghan Moynihan scored the game winner in overtime as NA came from behind to win.  In the Allderdice game, the Lady Tigers led for the entire contest.   Due to heavy storms, the games on Sunday against Farmington of Michigan and Nichols of New York were cancelled for the first time in 20 years.  This left the NA team undefeated on the trip and festival winners with a 2-0 record.  .

The festival included an awards ceremony on Sunday morning where three NA girls picked up honors.  Cyd Traversari and Meghan Moynihan made the All-Festival team and Amanda Chipman was named All-Festival Goalie.
