* WPIAL RUNNERUP * * SECTION CHAMPIONS * 2008-09 WPIAL RUNNERUP * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS TAKE SECOND IN WPIAL CHAMPIONSHIP The Lady Tigers finished second to Pine-Richland in the WPIAL Championships at Moon Middle School on Saturday. The Rams scored 149.075 to NA's 146.30 with Moon finishing third with a 142.65. Senior Sarah Wilson led NA with a 36.650 all-around score to place seventh in the Advanced Division standings. Freshman Tiara Chadron was close behind with a 36.575 followed by junior Lauren Gabriel with a 36.2. In individual scores, the Lady Tigers posted eighteen scores over 9.0. Lauren Gabriel recorded a 9.2 on bars and a 9.0 on vault, beam and floor. Chadron scored 9.525 on vault, 9.45 on floor and 9.1 on bars. Wilson came through with 9.25s on both vault and bars and a 9.2 on floor. Freshman Tori Bianco added a 9.3 on floor and a 9.2 on vault while senior Linnea Homa recorded a 9.2 on vault and a 9.15 on floor. Freshman Kirsten Hauser posted a 9.425 on floor and a 9.35 on bars with junior Crystal Hinnebusch adding a 9.15 on bars and a 9.1 on floor. Several NA gymnasts received medals for their performances. In the Advanced Division, Chadran finished third in both vault and floor. In Intermediate I competition, sophomore Brittany Wilson took third on bars. In Intermediate II, freshman Abbie Porritt won silver on vault. CONGRATULATIONS

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS (NA only)
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS TOP BALDWIN, 144.4-136.05, TO WRAP UP SECTION CROWN The Lady Tigers defeated Baldwin, 144.4-136.05, on Senior Night on Friday night at Rising Star Gymnastics in the final regular season meet of the year. The victory gave NA an undefeated season with a final record of 9-0. Freshman Kirsten Hauser led NA with an all-around score of 36.65 while freshman Tiara Chadran added a 36.1 for the winning Lady Tigers. In individual scores, Hauser posted a meet high 9.65 on bars along with a 9.5 on beam and a 9.05 on floor exercises. Chadran recorded a 9.15 on both bars and beam. Also reaching the 9.0 mark were junior Lauren Gabriel with a 9.35 on floor, junior Crystal Hinnebusch on bars, and senior Linnea Homa with a 9.1 on vault. The Tigers will compete in the WPIAL Championship at Moon on Saturday. The finals are set to begin at 10:30 am at the Moon Middle School gym. MEET

OVER CENTER The Lady Tigers defeated both Center and Hopewell at the Monaca Turners gym on Thursday night. NA scored 142.75 to 133.20 for Center and 114.95 for Hopewell. Freshman Kirsten Hauser led NA with a 35.45 all-around score. Senior Sarah Wilson and junior Lauren Gabriel posted the highest individual scores with 9.45s in floor exercises. Hauser recorded a 9.2 on bars and a 9.0 on beam while sophomore Rebecca Fritsch had 9.0s on both bars and floor. Freshman Tiara Chadron posted a 9.4 on floor, sophomore Brittany Wilson a 9.35 on floor while freshman Tori Bianco and freshman Brianna Gabriel both had 9.25s on floor. Senior Linnea Homa added a 9.1 on vault for the winning Lady Tigers. With the two wins, NA remained unbeaten and improved their record to 8-0. The Lady Tigers will host Baldwin on Friday night on Senior Night at Rising Star Gymnastics. The scheduled starting time is set for 7:00 pm. MEET

THREE MORE The Lady Tigers knocked off Fox Chapel, Center and Hopewell on Friday night at Trinity Gymnastics to improve their record to 6-0 on the season. NA scored 141.80 to 128.90 for Fox Chapel, 128.30 for Center, and 115.50 for Hopewell. Junior Crystal Hinnebusch led the way with a 36.1 overall followed closely by senior Sarah Wilson with a 35.95 with junior Lauren Gabriel third with a 34.4. Junior Kara Stiger posted the highest individual score with a 9.55 on vault. Wilson recorded a 9.25 on vault and a 9.0 on both beam and floor. Hinnebusch posted a 9.35 on floor and a 9.0 on bars while Gabriel had a 9.2 on floor. Senior Linnea Homa added a 9.15 on vault. The Lady Tigers will travel to Monaca Turners on Thursday night to face Center and Hopewell. Meet time is scheduled for 6:30 pm. MEET

MONTOUR, 137.9-125.4, The Lady Tigers defeated Montour, 137.9-125.4, at All-Star Gymnastics on Monday night for their third consecutive victory without a loss. Freshman Tori Bianco led the way for NA with an all-around total of 34.3 followed closely by sophomore Alana Norton with a 34.2. Freshman Tiara Chadran added a 34.0 for the winning Lady Tigers. Posting the highest individual scores for NA were junior Crystal Hinnebusch with a 9.1 on bars and senior Linnea Homa with a 9.0 on vault. Norton recorded an 8.9 on both vault and bars while Chadran received an 8.9 on bars.. Next up for the Lady Tigers will be a trip to Trinity Gymnastics on Friday night to face the Fox Chapel Foxes. Meet time is scheduled for 6:00 pm. MEET

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS TAKE CARE OF MOON, 147.8-141.85 The Lady Tigers earned a measure of revenge for last year's loss in the WPIAL Finals by defeating Moon, 147.8-141.85, at Rising Star Gymnastics on Friday night. Freshman Kirsten Hauser posted the top all-around score with a 36.85 with freshman Tori Bianco close behind with a 36.45. Junior Lauren Gabriel came through with a 35.85 in the all-around score with senior Leigh Bauer recording a 35.70. In individual events, Hauser posted a 9.6 on beam, a 9.45 on bars, and a 9.35 on floor on the way to her meet high score. Bianco scored 9.3 on vault, 9.2 on floor, and 9.15 on bars while Lauren Gabriel added a 9.55 on floor and a 9.1 on bars. Bauer recorded a 9.3 on bars and a 9.05 on floor. A number of additional NA gymnasts went over the 9.0 mark. Sophomore Alana Norton recorded a 9.35 on vault and a 9.15 on bars, junior Gillian Carr had an NA high of 9.75 on vault, and freshman Tiara Chadran a 9.45 on vault. In addition, senior Linnea Homa had a 9.05 on vault, freshman Brianna Gabriel a 9.05 on bars, and senior Sarah Wilson a 9.00 on floor. With the win, NA improved their record to 2-0. The Lady Tigers will travel to All-Star Athletics on Monday, January 12, to meet Montour in a meet that was changed from Thursday, January 8. MEET

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS EDGE PINE-RICHLAND, 146.5-145.4 The Lady Tigers successfully opened the 2008-09 season with a close 146.5-145.4 victory over rival Pine-Richland at Jewart's Gymastics on Thursday night. Junior Gillian Carr led NA with an all-around score of 37.65 with freshman Kirsten Hauser next with a 36.8. Senior Linnea Homa posted a 35.95 and senior Leigh Bauer a 35.0 for the winning Lady Tigers. Individually, Carr recorded a 9.6 on beam and vault along with a 9.45 on floor and a 9.0 on bars. Hauser had a meet high 9.8 on beam along with a 9.4 on bars and a 9.3 on floor exercises. Homa scored a 9.3 on beam and a 9.15 on floor while Bauer had a 9.3 on beam and a 9.0 on floor. Sophomore Alana Norton posted a 9.1 on bars and a 9.0 on floor while senior Sarah Wilson recorded a 9.3 on floor. Freshman Tiara Chadran tied for a team high on vault with a 9.6 with junior Lauren Gabriel adding a 9.35 on floor. NA will host Moon on Friday night at Rising Star Gymnastics. SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * 2008-09 WPIAL GYMNASTICS The Lady Tigers will compete again in the WPIAL along with seven other teams. WPIAL competition will begin on December 11, 2008, and must be completed according to the schedule. The WPIAL individual championship will be held on February 14, 2009, at Moon Middle School. The individual championship is open to all competitors who have achieved the qualifying scores as shown on the WPIAL website at www.wpial.org. All individual qualifying scores for members of teams entered in the WPIAL program must be earned in a regular scheduled meet in which their team competes. No team member can compete as an individual at another school for a qualifying score. Students who participate as a n individual or as a member of a team in a gymnastic program other than that of her school while she is participating for the school team shall be ineligible to take part in the WPIAL or PIAA championship events unless she has been in uniform and available to participate as a member of her school team for at least 75 per cent of the contest beginning with the team's first interscholastic contest of the regular season. In dual meets a team may enter five competitors for each event, but only the scores of four of them can count toward the final score of the meet. A. Dual meets with one competition event at a time, alternating competition style will be used, with one exhibition routine per team per event being permitted. B. Dual meets with two competition events running simultaneously, block style competition will be used, with up to five exhibition routines per team per event being permitted. C. Tri meets will have two competition events running simultaneously, block style competition will be used, with up to two exhibition routines per team per event being permitted. The official National Federation rule book states that the Olympic order of events be followed, that the home team must compete first on vault and beam. 2008-09 GYMNASTICS ALIGNMENT - 8 TEAMS
