MEET SUMMARIES

TIGERS HITS STRIDE AT BALDWIN INVITATIONAL

(5/4/13) Gearing up for the WPIAL Championships next week, the North Allegheny Track and Field Team grabbed four gold and two silver medals at the Baldwin Invitational on Friday. The Lady Tigers took first place in the 4x400 and 4x800 Meter Relay while senior Brooke Mancuso earned gold in the Pole Vault competition. Junior Fritz Isaac took first place in the Boys 200 Meter Dash and second place in the 110 Meter Hurdles. Junior Michael Becich was a silver medalist in the Boys 800 Meter Dash.

Up next for the NA Track Team, it’s the WPIAL Individual Qualifiers on Tuesday at Butler and the WPIAL Championships on Thursday at Baldwin.

SIX TIGERS GRAB GOLD AT WILDCAT, LADY SPARTAN INVITATIONAL

(4/14/13) It was a good weekend for the North Allegheny Track and Field Team at the Wildcat and Lady Spartan Invitational. The NA Boys took second place at the annual event with a team score of 93. The Lady Tigers earned a sixth place finish with a team score of 40. Hempfield garnered first place in both the boys (141.50) and girls competitions (157).

Helping the Tigers to an impressive showing was Fritz Isaac who grabbed a gold medal in the Boys 110 Meter Hurdles and earned silver in the 300 Meter Hurdles. Also picking up gold medals were Cordon Louco (Boys 1600 Meter Run), Seamus Love (Boys 800 Meter Run), Kyle Shivetts (200 Meter Dash), Matt McGoey (3200 Meter Run), and Brooke Mancuso (Girls Pole Vault).

North Allegheny will return to section action on Monday with a visit to Pine-Richland to face the Rams and the Shaler Titans. The meet gets underway at 3:30 pm.

STRONG SHOWING FOR NA AT SOUTH HILLS CLASSIC

(4/7/13) The North Allegheny Track and Field Team claimed six gold medals at the South Hills Classic this weekend. For the Lady Tigers, Brooke Mancuso and Casey Lehecka took first place in the Pole Vault competition. The NA Girls also claimed first place in the 4x400 and 4x800 relay. For the NA Boys, Brett Nuegebauer was a first place winner in the Pole Vault and Michael Becich earned gold in the 800 Meter Run. Among other top performances, Matt McGoey grabbed silver in the 3200 Meter Run and Fritz Isaac took third place in the 100 Meter Hurdles.

The North Allegheny Track Team returns to action on Tuesday for a home meet against rival North Hills. Start time is slated for 3:30 pm.
