NA Cheer Booster Meeting

Opening Remarks

President JoAnn Vandergrift  opened the meeting at 7:05 p.m. and offered a warm welcome to all returning and new cheer parents thanking everyone for their efforts and encouraging new parents to get involved.   

Officer Elections

JoAnn opened the floor to nominations for Cheer Booster Board positions.  Officer elections were held for the 2010-2011 year as follows:

President : Monica Gambino (nominated by Patti Amos and seconded by Kathy Machiko)

Vice President: Moncel Deitz and Sandi Binz (nominated Patti Amos and Beth Vuono and seconded by Kathy Machiko and Jane Marroni)

Treasurer: Mary Ellen Austin (nominated by Mary Lotz and seconded by Patti Amos)

Secretary: Andrea Conley and Mary Collins (nominated by Sharon Burnham and Lynne Warth and seconded by Ann Burnett and Kathy Machiko)

Clothing Representatives: Beth Vuono and Lucille Locke (nominated by Jane Marroni and Kelly Gill and seconded by Monica Gambino and Kathy Machiko)

 Squad Reps:

·         Varsity: Patti Amos and Barb McGill (nominated by Kathy Machiko and Ann Burnham and seconded by Ann Burnett and Beth Wrigley)

The new Cheer Booster Board thanked JoAnn for all her hard work and dedication to the NA Cheer Boosters.

Old Business

Treasurer’s Report – Patti Amos

Patti Amos reported that the Cheer Boosters carried over $3500 on its balance sheet from last year but that two bills are still outstanding, including one for charter buses and one for printing the cheerleading banquet programs.

Kennywood Day – June 16^th is Kennywood Day and the Cheer Boosters will provide a gift basket for the UBO raffle filled with shirts and cheer accessories.

New Business

Non-Profit Status – Monica Gambino

Monica announced that the NA Cheer Boosters would be filing for non-profit status this year and that as a result, individual fundraising accounts would not be available this year. The NA Cheer Boosters will focus on large fundraising events that will benefit all the cheerleaders rather that individual fundraisers.

Clothing – Beth Vuono

 Every parent at the meeting received a spreadsheet listing the required clothing per cheerleader per squad.  All parents not attending will be sent at letter to their home. Clothing can be ordered on two dates only: June 7 (at tumbling) and June 14 at NAI.  All cheerleaders will be fitted and clothing orders must be paid at that time directly to the suppliers. If you are unable to make these dates, you will need to contact the suppliers and place your order with them directly.  Parents are welcome to attend to check the order and sizes.  All orders will be delivered to and distributed by the Squad Representatives.

New Fundraising/Community Service: The T-shirt sale fundraiser will be headed by Sharon Burnham and Lisa Hamm this year.  The Coat Drive service project for the North Allegheny and North Hills cheerleaders will be held at the North Hills game and chaired by the North Hills cheerleaders.

Mini Camp: Barb McGill is the Chair of Mini Camp.  Barb announced that registrations are going well.  The cheerleaders will  go to the elementary schools again this year to pass out flyers to girls as they get on the bus.  Permission will be obtained from each school principal.

The cheerleaders will be divided up and sent to pass out and clean up flyers on Wednesday, June 2nd.  A third evening registration will be held on June 2^nd at the high school.

Mini Camp uniform colors are lime green shirt and hot pink tiger paw shorts.  The coaches will provide the uniform days and last years' camp uniform will also be used.

Volunteers are needed and signup sheets were provided for snacks, coolers, workers, pictures, clothing sales, ice etc.  Thank you to all who offered their services, items and especially their time.  Please contact Barb McGill at tbsca3@comcast.net if you can volunteer to help out but have not signed up yet.

Football Tickets

Football tickets/reserved parking passes will be sold at the August meeting by Patti McClure from the Athletic office.

Squad Representative Reports:  All squads are gathering contact information for cheerleaders and their parents.  Please expect an email to be coming soon with announcements from the coaches concerning tumbling practices and UCA camp.
