NA CHEERLEADING BOOSTER MEETING

November 16, 2009

Opening Remarks

Jane Marroni and Ann Moss approved the minutes from the last meeting as written.

Old Business

T-shirt sales were a wonderful success.  Ann is working on the final figure but we ordered 3,278 shirts and we only have about 60 left.   Ann proposes that we change the billing address of all invoices to the AD’s office because having revolving members leads to misplaced bills.

Football senior night was a huge success and thank you to Patti Amos for organizing.

Also, the senior dinner at Elizabeth Webber’s house was outstanding and the girls and coaches had a great time.  Thank you to Elizabeth for hosting!

An informational meeting is being planned by Mr. Bozzuto’s office regarding the Non-profit status.  There will definitely be changes made to fundraising in the near future.  More to come.

The $100 deposit per girl has been paid for the JV & Varsity trip to nationals in Orlando.  Anyone still interested in the UCA package should contact JoAnn Vandergrift for information.

Unite on Game Night was a success.  Thank you to Beth Vuono for organizing.

New Business

The Johnstown competition is this Saturday, November 21, 2009 and the girls are scheduled to leave NASH at approximately 10 a.m. and return approximately 8 p.m.  They are taking a coach bus.  The actual schedule will be announced at practice on Tuesday.

The football banquet is scheduled for Sunday, December 13 and all of the senior girls who wish to attend should send in their RSVP’s by November 20.  This is a senior cheerleader only invitation. In addition, Beth Vuono will contact football boosters to check on availability of purchasing football programs by cheer parents at a discounted rate.

The Mark Milovats Holiday Show will be Sunday, November 29.  The girls will probably be wearing one of the regular outfits with some kind of “holiday” themed accessory for the show.  Tickets are still available at www.pittsburgharts.com.

If anyone is interested in a board position for next year’s board, they should consider “shadowing” or helping with a position that will be vacated after this year’s board resigns.  In particular, Sandy Mencini/Clothing, Ann Moss/Treasurer and JoAnn Vandergrift/President.  This will help smooth transition.

The end of year banquet is being investigated by Sandy Mencini to be held at Wildwood Country Club again and probably a Thursday night in March depending upon which night seems to work best for the most people.  More information will be available soon.

 Treasurers Report

Latest installments were due tonight.  December’s payment will be due 12/31/09 and it cannot be late because bills will be due 1/1/10.

The financial report was approved by Beth Vuono & Jane Marroni.

Fundraising & Community Support

1.    Pittsburgh Public Schools – Cindy Werner – Cindy is currently collecting holiday bags with donations from our girls of three items (an educational book or novel, an educational game and school supplies) for underprivileged children in the Lincoln school in the city.   The children are all age 13 and the varsity will target boys, the JV will target girls and freshman can buy for either.  The due date for submitting the bags is December 17th.

2.    Kelley Kaparakos – The Hampton Banquet Hall’s Santa Luncheon – Kelley was unavailable for the meeting so more information will be forthcoming.

3.    Basketball Cheer Clinic – JoAnn Vandergrift – The clinic will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Baierl Center from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for girls from K – 6th for a cost of $30.00.  The girls will then cheer the ½ time game of the girls’ varsity basketball game on Friday, December 18, 2009 at approximately 6:30 p.m. The participants will get free admittance to the game.  Barb McGill will be collecting the registrations.  Possibly send out emails to summer camp participants over the thanksgiving holiday.  T-shirts for the camp will be obtained from Jill Guthrie for approximately $5.

UBO

Scholar athletes are being determined and t-shirts and certificates for fall sports will be collected and available for the banquet along with winter eligible participants.  Also, senior scholarships are being organized and qualified participants are being determined for March, 2010 participation deadlines.  More to follow in the coming months.

Clothing

If anyone is interested in purchasing any clothing, contact Sandy Mencini for contact information for the vendor.

Varsity

Elizabeth Webber has extra uniforms at her house should anyone need to upsize or downsize.  Vote for the Cheer of the Year on www.wpxi.com.  Winner received $250!

Junior Varsity

New team picture is on the website and will be included in the basketball program.

Freshman

Joanne Verez will collect the freshman donation bags for the Lincoln school since the freshman are not meeting as often right now and will get to Cindy Werner.  The basketball cheer clinic will be taught by JV and Varsity only since the benefit of this fundraiser will be going to meals at nationals.  Freshman can participate if they would like for volunteer hours.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:13 p.m. by Sandy Mencini and Elizabeth Webber.  It was determined that the December meeting will be cancelled and any necessary information will be past via email.
