The North Allegheny girls’ soccer team earned an impressive 4-1 win over the playoff-bound Penn-Trafford Warriors on Saturday evening at Newman Stadium. Freshman Emma Bundy scored two goals for the Lady Tigers to help NA to the victory.

After a scoreless first half, senior Brooke Anderson delivered a pass in the 43rd minute to Bundy who dribbled through the Penn-Trafford defense and fired a laser of a shot into the far upper corner of the net for a 1-0 Tigers lead. The Warriors were issued three yellow cards from the officiating crew for hard tackles on NA players. Despite the physical nature of the game, the Tigers added a second goal in the 73rd minute on a repeat of the first. Brooke Anderson slotted a pass to Bundy who calmly dribbled in and placed a shot into the PT net to bring the score to 2-0, North Allegheny.

Only two minutes after Bundy’s second goal, junior Morgan Anderson took a ball from 40 yards out and worked her way in for a goal and a 3-0 lead for the Lady Tigers. Penn-Trafford got on the board when Hannah Nguyen took a free kick and scored in the 73rd minute to cut the score to 3-1. With the Warriors gaining some momentum, NA goalie Julia Correa came up with two big saves to deny Penn-Trafford and keep the Tigers’ two-goal lead intact. North Allegheny concluded the scoring in the 80th minute on a goal by freshman Ava Ruppersberger to send the Tigers to a 4-1 triumph.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 7-8-1 overall. Penn-Trafford dips to 13-3-1 on the season. The Lady Tigers will visit top-ranked and undefeated Norwin on Monday night at 7:30.
