Tigers Blank Knights, 4-0
Top-ranked North Allegheny matched up with a perennially strong Norwin program on Saturday afternoon at Newman Stadium and earned a 4-0 non-section win over the Knights.
The Tigers grabbed a 2-0 lead by halftime on goals by seniors Riley Cerqua and Sophia Palermo. In the second half, senior Lucia Wells increased the advantage to 3-0 in the 49th minute. Junior Jadyn Coy capped the scoring in the 76th minute to close out a 4-0 victory.
North Allegheny controlled the action and outshot Norwin, 18-3, and led in corner kicks, 15-3. Cerqua was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
With the win, NA improves to 9-0 on the season with the non-section win. The Tigers return to section play with a home game against Allderdice on Monday night. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
