Tigers Storm Past Tornado

Posted on:

The North Allegheny Varsity Softball Team stormed past the Butler Golden Tornado on a warm Thursday afternoon at NASH Field. The Tigers outscored Butler 11-1 in a game shortened to five innings by the ten-run rule.

NA played errorless defense to support the two-hit pitching of sophomore pitcher Sophia Dollard (1-0), who went the distance to earn her first victory of 2018. Dollard did not surrender a hit until inning number four.

North Allegheny tallied thirteen hits, including doubles by junior Regan Brodine, junior Ashley Adams, and senior Shannon Hamm. Butler scored its run in the top of the fifth when Kathleen Rudolph laced a triple down the right field line to drive in Butler’s only run of the contest. The victory raises the Tigers’ record to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in 6A Section 3. The loss drops Butler to 2-4 overall and 0-4 in section play.

North Allegheny will travel to Connellsville on Friday the Thirteenth to compete against the Falcons and will return to section play on Saturday afternoon at home vs. the Shaler Area Titans at 4:00 PM.
