
North Allegheny Falls To Cumberland Valley In PIAA Title

The North Allegheny boys’ volleyball team fell to undefeated Cumberland Valley in straight sets in the 3A PIAA title game at Rec Hall on the Penn State Campus Saturday. The Eagles won by set scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-12.
In set one, both squads went back and forth in a seesaw affair with the teams tied 10-10. A 6-0 run from Cumberland Valley made the difference and secured a set one victory for the Eagles. The Tigers had three kills apiece from senior Eli Braun and junior Will Robertson in the frame. The Eagles had three kills from senior Bryson Walsh, senior Avery Reynolds had three kills and two blocks, while fellow senior Derek Paul registered three kills and an ace.
In set two, Robertson, who had four kills in the stanza, helped NA to a 9-4 lead in the early stages. However, a 5-0 run from CV tied the score at nine. The rest of the set was nip and tuck, with the teams tied 20-20 late in the frame. Reynolds, who had four kills in set two, helped the Eagles to score five of the final six points to take the 2-0 match lead.
The third and final set was all Cumberland Valley on their way to the second PIAA title in school history. Senior Aiden Dunwoody had three kills and two blocks in the last set. Reynolds added five more kills to finish with 12 on the day.
The Wright Automotive Player of the Game was awarded to the NA senior class.
North Allegheny finishes another great season with an 18-2 record. The Tigers were appearing in the PIAA Championship for a state-record 20th time. Cumberland Valley finished the year with a 22-0 record.
