Tigers compete at Screamin’ Eagle Tournament
The North Allegheny Water Polo teams traveled to Cumberland Valley High School to participate in the Screamin’ Eagle Tournament. The boys continued their undefeated conference record going 3-0 on the weekend while the girls went 1-2.
Girls
The NA girls started off the tournament with a 12-5 win over Muhlenberg, running their win streak up to six games. Bella
Spino led the way for the Tigers with six goals, six steals and three assists while Mikaela Dassanaike added four goals, five steals and four assists. Sani Bedi and Lila Sonaer each added goals. Katherine Vales had eight saves in net.
The win streak would come to an end on Saturday when North Allegheny was upended by Exeter by a score of 6-4. In a defensive battle, the score was 0-0 at halftime. Spino and Dassanaike each had two goals while Vales made 10 saves.
The weekend would end with the Tigers falling to Cumberland Valley, 17-8. Spino added six goals to end the weekend with 14 to go along with five steals. Dassanaike and Sonaer each added a goal. Vales made five saves in net while Myra Anand made a save in relief.
Boys
The NA boys opened the weekend with a 20-13 win over Muhlenberg on Friday. Bryce Miller led the Tigers offense with five goals. He also had five steals and three assists. Tabari Morgan added four goals while Ekagra Sanan and Callan Bunger each tallied a hat trick. Logan Purnell and Noah Cochrane each added two goals while Max LaFuria had a tally. Mike Stefanko allowed one goal on five shots while Gannon Brooks made five saves.
On Saturday, the boys continued to roll with a dominant 16-2 win over Exeter. Morgan led the way with four goals, Filip Malezanov had two goals to go along with five steals. LaFuria, Cochrane, Sanan and Miller each had two goals while Bunger added one. Mike Stefanko made one save in net while not allowing any goals. Stefanko also converted an uncommon goalie goal to help out offensively. Brooks made five saves.
In the final game of the weekend, the Tigers took down Cumberland Valley by an 18-6 score. Morgan dominated the game with nine goals while Malezanov had seven assists. Bunger added seven goals while Philip Liulias and Sana each tallied goals. Stefanko made 17 saves while Brooks helped with two.
The North Allegheny boys improve to 17-1 overall on the season. The girls now have a record of 7-9. The Tigers will return home to take on McDowell on Tuesday at 6 p.m. This will be Senior Night and the games will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
