Girls Water Polo season ends at State Play-In Tournament; Bella Spino scores 200th career goal

North Allegheny traveled to Wilson High School to compete in the PA State Play-In tournament over the weekend. The Tigers picked up a win in their opener before falling one game short of qualifying for the PA State Championships.

The Tigers opened up the tournament by defeating Pennridge, 13-7. Senior captain Bella Spino could not be stopped offensivelyTwo water polo players in action, one reaching high with the ball, intense gameplay in a pool setting. scoring 10 goals and picking up six steals defensively. Spino surpassed 200 career varsity goals in the contest. Senior and co-captain Mikaela Dassanaike added two goals, an assist and a steal. Junior Lila Sonaer tallied a goal while junior Sania Bedi helped out with three assists. Senior and co-captain Katherine Vales made 12 saves in net and had an assist.

In a game to punch their ticket to the state championships, NA fell to Upper Dublin by a score of 16-7. Dassanaike led the Tigers offense with four goals while Spino added two more. Both players had three steals. Sophomore Karuna Ghuman added a goal as well.

North Allegheny finishes the season with a 10-10 overall record. Congrats to head coach Damir Matanovic, all staff and players on a successful 2025 season and congrats to Spino on her 200th career goal!
