The midfielder was a first-team Big 56 All-Conference selection and an all-section pick earlier this school year. She was the team’s second leading scorer, tallying 13 goals. Some of those goals were in clutch moments, including the game-winning marker in double overtime for the WPIAL Championship, and the game-winning penalty kick in overtime to advance to the PIAA semifinals.
Varoltta is a multi-sport athlete who also participates in basketball. She is currently one of the team’s scoring leaders on the hardwood as well.
Youngstown State participates in Division I college soccer as a member of the Horizon League. The Penguins were 8-10-2 overall last fall and 6-2-2 in conference play. YSU participated in the Horizon League Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament, falling to Oakland in the first round. The Penguins last reached the Horizon League Championship Game in 2022.
