The North Allegheny boys’ lacrosse team traveled to Butler for a section matchup with the Golden Tornado on Thursday night. The Tigers prevailed, scoring the first seven goals of the contest and securing the 14-1 win.

NA dominated the offensive play in the first half, scoring all four markers in the first frame.  Sophomore transfer Evan Wade picked up right where he left off after the Pine-Richland matchup earlier in the week, scoring a hat trick in the first quarter. Fellow sophomore Charlie Jones added a goal before the first stanza came to a close as well. Junior Mason Brown, Wade and senior Jack Dimond all found the back of the net to put the Tigers up 7-0 before the lone Butler tally from senior Jake Stevens. Tiger sophomore Levi Humphrey scored his first career goal before the half came to a close and NA led 8-1 at the midpoint.

The Tigers scored six more unanswered goals in the third quarter, as Brown added his second of the night, followed by Jones and sophomore Sawyer Catchen. Jones added two more markers before the quarter came to a close, which bookended a goal by freshman Brandt Hoffman.

Wade and Jones each secured four-goal nights, with Jones adding an assist. Senior Johnny Castillo led the Tigers with four assists. Freshman Cian Gallagher led the team with six faceoff wins and also accumulated three ground balls. Sophomore Tyson Knapp also had four faceoff wins.

Senior Alex Costa got the nod in net and made eight saves, including some big early stops, to earn the shutout.

North Allegheny improves to 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in section play. The Tigers hit the road on Saturday for a non-section matchup at State College. NA is back at home for a match against MSLA foe Everest Academy (CAN) at Newman Stadium on Monday. That 3:15 faceoff will be broadcast live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
