Johnny Castillo Scores 100th Career Goal as Tigers Fall to Hill Academy
By: Bob Orkwis
It turned out to be a successful trip from Canada to the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh for the Hill Academy. One night after defeating Pine-Richland, the Pride bested North Allegheny 10-5, but not before the Tigers gave Hill Academy everything they could handle in the early going.
Jacob Kallay scored the first goal at 1:46, before the Tigers netted the next four. Captain Johnny Castillo tied the game with his ninth of the year after beating a double team below the goal line. Evan Wade followed that with a man-up goal for a 2-1 lead. Mason Brown then notched his 21st goal of the year after a nice bull dodge to put the Tigers in front 3-1 after the first quarter.
Then at 3:40 of the second quarter, Castillo curled out from behind the net and took a feed from Wade to score his second goal of the game, which gave North Allegheny a 4-1 lead. The goal was a significant milestone for the senior Castillo, as it was his 100th career tally.

But Hill Academy, one of the top prep schools in North America, answered by scoring nine of the final ten goals in the contest.
Brodie Haynes made it a two-goal game before Griffin Holbrough brought the score to 4-3. Then, a potential back-breaking goal for the Pride came just before halftime. Hill Academy won a groundball and took a timeout with nine seconds remaining in the second quarter. They needed just seven seconds, as Haynes cut to the net after receiving a pass to tie the game at 4-4 just before the break.
Connor Hart tallied at 3:39 of the third quarter to put Hill Academy on top 5-4. Wade would break the run, notching his second of the night and team-leading 23rd goal off a nice feed from freshman Carter Nieport from behind the net to tie the game. That would end the scoring for
the Tigers.
Kallay scored the eventual game winner before Haynes completed the hat trick for a 7-5 Pride lead at the end of three quarters.
Haynes added the first two goals of the fourth quarter, before Finn Merrill scored late to make the final score 10-5.
Both goalies in the game played aggressively and well, with Camden Hare picking up the win over Alex Costa, who finished with 11 saves.
The Wright Automotive Player of the Game Honors went to senior Johnny Castillo, with a pair of goals, including the 100th marker of his career.
While Hill Academy returns to Western Pennsylvania in early May with four more games against WPIAL competition, North Allegheny (5-5), continues its prep school play with a game at Kiski Prep on Monday. The Tigers are back home next Friday when they host Shady Side Academy on Senior Night for their next-to-last section game of the season.
