Carlyn Vaupel Inks Letter of Intent With Gannon University

Posted on:

North Allegheny senior outfielder Carlyn Vaupel signed her letter of intent on Wednesday to continue her softball and academic career at NCAA Division II Gannon University.

Vaupel made an immediate impact for the Tigers as a freshman, appearing in 20 games and posting a .302 batting average with a home run, eight RBI and nine runs scored. As a sophomore, she continued to excel by scoring 15 runs in 23 games and displayed a rocket throwing arm in the outfield. An injury cut into Vaupel’s junior campaign, but she still found success when on the field by posting a .304 average in 10 games played.

At Gannon, Vaupel will join a program that competes in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and will be reunited with former NA shortstop, Alaina Whipkey, who is entering her sophomore season with the Golden Knights this spring. There is a strong history of success for North Allegheny softball grads at Gannon University, including NA Hall of Famer Madi Beining, who was twice named PSAC Pitcher of the Year in 2018 and 2019.
