NA Wins Title Game Rematch With Seneca Valley, 3-0

Posted on:

In a rematch of last year’s WPIAL Class AAA championship, the North Allegheny boys’ volleyball team once again came away victorious against the Seneca Valley Raiders. The only difference in this contest is the Tigers needed just three sets to win it, taking the match by set scores of 25-19, 26-24 and 25-23.

Despite the sweep, each set was a battle with the Raiders that required numerous important contributions by the Tigers to prevail. The NA attack was paced by senior Varun Kaveti with 10 kills, followed by junior Stone Gaertner with nine kills. Senior Jax Wilhite and freshman Will Robertson added seven kills each. Junior setter Nicolas Carioto dished out 36 assists to the NA high-powered offense.

At the net, Robertson notched a team-high four blocks and Wilhite chipped in with three. Defensively, junior libero Will Hahn tallied 20 digs, while sophomore Matthew LeMay delivered three aces.

Following an impressive road victory in section play, North Allegheny improves to 3-2 overall and in Section 2-AAA. Seneca Valley slips to 3-2 in the section. The Tigers will visit Central York High School on Saturday for the annual York Invitational.
