The deemed “WPIAL boys’ lacrosse game of the week” lived up to the hype from Mt. Lebanon Tuesday, as the North Allegheny comeback came up just short falling to the reigning WPIAL Champions 7-6.

The Blue Devils sprinted out to an early lead and held a 4-0 advantage by halftime.

Tigers senior Colman Craft broke the goose egg for NA with less than eight minutes remaining in the third frame on a goal assisted by junior Johnny Castillo. Mt. Lebanon added two more markers before the quarter came to a close, but NA struck again with less than a minute left in the stanza on a goal from senior Jack Ferraro.

The Tigers dictated most of the fourth quarter, scoring four straight goals courtesy of junior Hawke Brian (assisted by junior Nick Sichak), sophomore Mason Brown, Sichak and Castillo with just over three minutes left in the contest tying the game at six apiece. The Blue Devils scored the game-winner with just 17 seconds left in the frame.

Tigers senior Logan Lyle made five saves in net, while junior Luke Rohan had seven faceoff wins. Defensively, Craft led the team with five ground balls and three takeaways. Ferraro ended the contest with two takeaways and three ground balls to go along with his goal. Castillo also accumulated three groundballs.

The early season loss drops the Tigers to 0-1 with a quick turnaround at home Thursday when NA hosts Norwin from Newman Stadium at 7:00 p.m. You can listen to the game live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
