North Allegheny girls’ soccer forward Averie Bierker has selected where she will play and continue her academic career at the next level. The junior posted on social media Sunday that she will be heading to Miami University after her senior season on the pitch with the Tigers.
I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue both my academic and athletic career at Miami University to play D1 soccer! Grateful for @SirmansCourtney and @Rllegos5 for giving me this incredible opportunity. A huge thank you to my family for always… pic.twitter.com/7QqNL2zaTw

Bierker had a breakout junior season with NA last fall, tallying five goals, which was good enough for third-best on the squad behind Kieran Shannon and Aubrey Wells. Beyond her high school play, she is also heavily involved with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds ECNL 2008 developmental team.
Miami plays Division-I Women’s Soccer in the Mid-American Conference. The Redhawks have made the MAC Tournament two times in the last three seasons.
