It may have taken until the fourth game of the season for the Tigers to take the turf at Newman Stadium, but it was worth the wait, as North Allegheny upended North Hills 13-3 to earn its second consecutive Section 2-3A victory.

Less than a minute into the contest. Hawke Brian took a feed from Colt Gibson to put the Tigers up 1-0. After Thomas Rowse won the next faceoff and scored to tie the game at 1-1, North Allegheny rattled off six straight goals for a 7-1 lead. That faceoff loss was one the rare draws that junior Luke Rohan did not handle at the X for North Allegheny. Nick Sichak would score his first of three goals on the night to give the Tigers a lead they would not relinquish. Mason Brown picked up an assist on the play. It was Brown from Johnny Castillo, Gibson off a Sam Porter assist, Jack Dimond unassisted, then two more Sichak tallies with Porter and Brown getting the helpers to put the Tigers up by six goals after the first quarter.

Castillo scored his third goal of the season sandwiched in between a pair of Indians goals from Luke Coldren and Quinn Lowry and the score was 8-3 Tigers at the break. North Allegheny’s Logan Lyle made two stops in the first half, while junior Alex Costa stopped all five shots he faced in the second half. North Allegheny did not allow a goal in the final 24 minutes.

Sichak assisted on Derek Walker’s first goal of the season, with Brian adding his second from Castillo and Porter getting his fourth of the year off another Sichak assist to make the score 11-3 North Allegheny at the end of the third quarter.

Castillo and Brown both added their second markers of the night to round out the 13-3 win for the Tigers.

The first Wright Automotive Player of the Game award of the season went to Nick Sichak. The junior attack, who scored five goals and added three assists in the win over Pine-Richland, followed that up with a hat trick and two more helpers to pace North Allegheny (2-2, 1-0) in the win over North Hills (3-4, 0-1).

North Allegheny faces a tough non-section opponent on Thursday when Upper St. Clair visits Wexford. That game starts at 7:00 PM and will be carried live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
