Boys’ Lacrosse Takes Loss At Milford
By: Jared Barton
The North Allegheny boys’ lacrosse team couldn’t bounce back from a tough loss to USC Thursday night, falling to Milford in Ohio 13-8 Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers started the game off strong, with junior Johnny Castillo netting the game’s first goal early in the opening quarter. The Eagles tied the game roughly four minutes later, but NA netted back-to-back markers from seniors Colman Craft and Jacob Clarkson to take a 3-1 lead after the first period.
North Allegheny extended the lead a couple of minutes into the second quarter on a goal from junior Nick Sichak, assisted by fellow junior Colt Gibson. The Eagles then scored three goals in a row to tie the game with just nine seconds left in the opening half.
Gibson connected with Sichak once again to open the third quarter, giving NA the 5-4 advantage, but Milford tallied four straight markers to take an 8-5 lead. Castillo scored his second of the contest with eight seconds left in the stanza and the Tigers trailed 8-6 after three.
NA had fourth-quarter goals from junior Hawke Brian and senior Sam Porter, but it wasn’t enough to climb back, as Milford added five more goals to end the contest.
Senior Logan Lyle made six saves while Castillo finished the game with two goals, an assist and three ground balls.
North Allegheny returns home Monday night for another non-section matchup with Everest Academy at Newman Stadium. Faceoff is slated for 6:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
