The North Allegheny girls’ soccer team earned its third consecutive victory and fourth straight shutout with a 3-0 triumph over the Norwin Knights on Saturday afternoon at Newman Stadium.

Following a scoreless first half, the Tigers’ consistent pressure throughout the game paid off in the second half with a trio of goals. The first came courtesy of junior Kieran Shannon just 1:15 into the second half, assisted by junior Rosalia Varlotta, for a 1-0 lead. Shannon struck again eight minutes later, assisted by Emma Schupansky, to increase the NA advantage to 2-0. For her two-goal effort, Shannon was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.

The Tigers put the game well out of reach with 9:50 remaining in the contest when junior Mwende Abai tickled the twine to bring the score to its eventual final, 3-0. Ally Grabowski had the helper on the Abai goal.

Junior keeper Jordan Beemer picked up the victory and the shutout. The Tigers outshot the Knights, 6-1, and led in corner kicks, 7-2.

With the non-section win, North Allegheny improves to 3-1-1 on the season, while Norwin falls to 1-2. The Tigers begin section play next week with a visit to North Hills on Wednesday night.
