Senior midfielder Matt Osten scored the game-winning goal with just 15 seconds left in overtime to vault North Allegheny to an 11-10 victory over Kiski School on Saturday. It was alumni night at Newman Stadium, and Osten and the Tigers sent all NA backers home happy with the overtime win.
North Allegheny started strong in the first half and built a 7-2 lead on the strength of a hat trick from Ben Maenza and two goals from Kyler Byerly. Mike Egnaczyk and Isaiah Davis also tallied goals in the first half for the Tigers.
Davis, who netted three more goals in the second half to finish with four on the night, aided the Tigers in their efforts to stave off a Kiski rally. However, Kiski stormed all the way back and managed to tie the game at 10-10 with 2:47 remaining in regulation.
In the extra session, it was Osten who took center stage as the hero with the game-winning goal in the waning seconds to propel NA to an 11-10 win.
With the non-section victory, North Allegheny improves to 6-1 overall on the season. The Tigers return to section play with an important section game at Fox Chapel on Tuesday at 6:45 p.m.
