NA Boys’ Volleyball Dumps Derry, 3-1
The North Allegheny boys’ volleyball team won its third straight match with a 3-1 non-section triumph over Derry on Wednesday evening. The Tigers claimed the victory by set scores of 26-24, 15-25, 25-16 and 25-23.
With the Tigers earning their third consecutive victory, there was no coincidence that senior setter Jeremy Best had another career-best performance, matching his personal high of 43 assists. Best added 12 digs and six block assists. Defensively, Ethan DeRubbo had another strong night as he totaled a dazzling 28 digs.
Freshman Canyon Tuman posted a team-high 14 kills, followed by Nikola Topich and Alex Treser who delivered 12 kills apiece. Reliable senior Robert Stiefvater posted a team-best 10 block assists and added five kills and three digs.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 3-2 overall. The Tigers return to section action tonight with a road match at Shaler. Start time is set for 7:00.
