NA Defeats USC In Overtime, 2-1
Junior Sarah Schupansky scored both of North Allegheny’s goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lift the Tigers to a 2-1 triumph over Upper St. Clair on Saturday night.
In a non-section battle between two perennial playoff contenders, it was Upper St. Clair who netted the first goal of the night when sophomore Carson Brogan scored with 31:36 remaining in first half for a 1-0 lead.
Time of possession was ruled by the Tigers and that advantage finally paid off when Schupansky scored from 30 yards out with 25:54 remaining in the second half, assisted by senior Ava Ruppersburger, to tie the score at 1-1.
The score remained 1-1 throughout the remainder of the second half to send the game to overtime. In the extra session, Schupansky tallied the game-winning goal with a left-footed shot that just cleared the goalie’s head for a 2-1 North Allegheny victory.
North Allegheny improves to 5-1 overall with the victory. The Lady Tigers visit Fox Chapel on Monday for a Section 1-AAAA contest. Start time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
