The North Allegheny boys’ lacrosse team earned hard-fought 15-13 victory at Pine-Richland on Monday night in Section 1-AAA action.

The Tigers trailed 10-9 at the half before outscoring the Rams, 4-2, in the third period for a 13-12 lead. Sophomore Jonathan Castillo tied the game at 12-12 with 5:58 left in the third quarter and junior Travis Lamark netted the go-ahead goal with 3:48 remaining in the stanza.

While the first three periods saw a combined 25 goals by the two teams, scoring was at a premium in the fourth quarter and the NA defense was able to tighten its grip on the Rams and the contest. Sophomore Nick Sichak scored 50 seconds into the fourth period to extend the lead to 14-12. A marker by Pine-Richland’s Cooper Zancosky, who netted a game-high six goals, trimmed the NA lead to one goal, 14-13, with 8:36 left in regulation. Even though the Rams drew closer, they couldn’t find the equalizer and when Castillo scored his fourth goal of the night with 3:25 remaining, the Tigers had secured a 15-13 triumph.

Junior Colman Craft played a spectacular all-around game with five ground balls, three takeaways and two goals. Along with Castillo’s four-goal effort, senior Evan Lyon sparked the offense with a hat trick. Sichak and Lamark totaled two goals each, while Jack Ferraro and Sam Porter each scored single markers in the win.

Junior goalie Logan Lyle made 10 saves in net to earn the victory.

With their second straight win, the Tigers improved to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in Section 2-AAA. North Allegheny will look for another road win on Thursday night with another tough test at Fox Chapel.
