NA Prevails At Pine-Richland In Section Opener, 3-0

The North Allegheny girls’ volleyball team hit the road on Wednesday night for a short trip to section rival Pine-Richland and earned a 3-0 sweep over the Rams. The Tigers won the Section 1-AAAA opener by set scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-14.

Top-ranked North Allegheny defeated fourth-ranked Pine-Richland with a well-balanced attack, paced by senior Carissa Treser’s 10 kills. Senior Mia Tuman tallied eight kills, followed by fellow seniors Maddie Fickess and Ella Deeter with six and five kills, respectively. Tuman facilitated the offense with a game-high 29 assists and added a team-best six blocks.

On defense, senior libero Caroline Curran led with 18 digs. Tuman added 15 digs, while Deeter and senior Rebecca Pilotta notched 10 digs each. Curran, Tuman and Ella Zimmer each served up an ace.

North Allegheny improves to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in Section 1-AAAA, while Pine-Richland falls to 0-1 in the section. The Tigers will host North Hills on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. The match will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
