The North Allegheny boys’ lacrosse team earned its first victory of the 2024 season on Friday night and did so in convincing fashion with a 15-1 drubbing of the St. Edward Eagles in a non-section contest at Newman Stadium.

The Tigers jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Eagles scored their lone goal of the night on a marker by Dominic Florio, a University of Indianapolis commit, with 5:02 left in the second quarter. Aside from that aberration, the game was completely dominated by North Allegheny.

Senior Evan Lyon, a Rochester Institute of Technology commit, sparked the onslaught in the first half with four goals, improving his team-leading total to 18 on the season. Sophomore Jonathan Castillo continued the avalanche with three of his team-high five goals coming in the second half. Castillo also delivered the most spectacular goal of the night with just three seconds left before intermission. Adding an assist and two ground balls, Castillo was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game. Castillo now has 13 goals on the season.

Along with Castillo and Lyon, four other Tigers got into the mix. Junior Travis Lamark opened the scoring in the first quarter and tallied a pair of goals, as did junior Sam Porter. Lamark and Porter improved their season goal-scoring totals to six apiece. Sophomore Jack Dimond sparkled with his first career goal in the fourth quarter and senior Adam Flavell, a Wheeling University commit, capped the scoring with 1:01 left to play in the fourth quarter.

On the back end, no one got by long stick defenseman Colman Craft, who posted five ground balls and three takeaways. Junior goalie and St. John’s University commit, Logan Lyle, secured six saves. Senior Tyler Eyerman and sophomore Alex Costa also saw time in the second half and recorded one save each. Helping North Allegheny maintain a one-sided advantage in time of possession was sophomore FOGO Luke Rohan with 11 faceoff wins.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 1-5 on the season, while St. Edward falls to 1-6 overall. The Tigers will return to section play on Tuesday with a visit to Pine-Richland at 7:30 p.m. in Gibsonia.
