NA Secures Playoff Spot With Sweep Of Pine-Richland
The North Allegheny boys’ volleyball team locked up a playoff berth on Thursday night with a convincing 3-0 sweep of the Pine-Richland Rams in Section 2-AAA play. The Tigers earned the road victory with set wins of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-21.
Coming off a strong performance on Monday night against Norwin, freshman Canyon Tuman followed that up nicely with a similar outing and led the Tigers with 12 kills and 12 block assists. Seniors Nikola Topich and Robert Steifvater added seven kills apiece as NA battered the Rams with big swings. Topich was the team leader in digs on the night with 12. Setter Jeremy Best posted nine digs and dished out 36 assists.
North Allegheny improves to 8-4 overall and 6-4 in section play. Pine-Richland falls to 3-9 overall and 3-8 in section action. The Tigers return to the court on Friday night with a home non-section match against Derry. Start time is set for 7:00 pm.
