In the “C Bracket” final at the MSLA Tournament on Saturday, the North Allegheny boys’ lacrosse team defeated Spire Academy, 15-11. It was the second time the Tigers faced the non-section foe from the Buckeye State, atoning for an 8-7 loss on March 19. The victory also extended NA’s winning streak to eight in a row.

In the previous matchup, a last-minute goal by Spire Academy dealt NA a narrow defeat. In the rematch, the Tigers used a six-goal, two-assist effort by senior Evan Lyon to power their way to the win.  Sophomore Nick Sichak was another offensive juggernaut, with four goals and three assists. Junior Travis Lamark tallied a pair of goals, while sophomore Colt Gibson, junior Jack Ferraro and sophomore Jonathan Castillo all scored one goal each.

Sophomore FOGO Luke Ruhan delivered a physical performance and totaled 11 faceoff wins. The physicality was also on display on defense, where juniors Colman Craft and Kaden Brown made an indelible mark on Spire Academy. Junior goalie Logan Lyle made 15 saves to earn the victory in net.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 11-6 overall following the non-section. The Tigers will await the release of the WPIAL Class AAA playoff brackets on Thursday, May 9.
