The North Allegheny girls’ soccer team opened the 2022 season on Friday afternoon with a 5-1 victory over the Altoona Mountain Lions. The Tigers took command of the game with three goals in the first half and cruised to the non-section victory at Mansion Park Stadium.

The Altoona advantage was short-lived, however, as NA senior Lucia Wells scored with 30:03 on the first half clock to knot the score at 1-1. Just over a minute later, junior Abigail Stager tickled the back of the net to make it 2-1, Tigers. Sophomore Aubrey Wells tallied one more marker before halftime to increase the NA lead to 3-1 at intermission.

The second half was controlled by North Allegheny. Stager scored eight minutes into the half and sophomore Izzy Costa netted one more goal in the waning minutes to put the finishing touches on a 5-1 triumph.

Following the season-opening win, North Allegheny will travel to Mechanicsburg for a Saturday afternoon contest with perennial District 3 power, Cumberland Valley. Start time is set for 12:30 p.m.
