NAWP Boys upset La Salle; advance to State Championship for first time since 2013
The North Allegheny boys water polo team shifted locations to North Penn High School to take part in the state semifinals. Taking on top-seeded La Salle the Tigers knew they would be in a dog fight. NA played solid defense and had timely offense as they upset La Salle 7-4 to advance to the state championship for the first time since 2013 when they last won a state title.
It was a balanced effort for North Allegheny as Callan Bunger, Caden Currykosky and Tabari Morgan all scored two goals for the Tigers. Mason Shantz had a goal and two assists. Currykosky also had two steals. Mike Stefanko made 15 saves for NA.
North Allegheny advances to the state championship game where they will take on the No. 2 seed Upper Dublin at 6 p.m. Saturday night at North Penn High School. The game will be broadcast on North Penn’s YouTube account. Check the North Allegheny athletics Twitter account for the link.
