North Allegheny posts shutout win over North Hills

After falling in a tight contest on Saturday to Peters Township, North Allegheny rebounded Monday night, earning a 2-0 victory against North Hills at Newman Stadium.
The Tigers dominated the ball in the first half, not allowing the Indians near their net and getting chances from Mia Barsotti and Kieran Shannon among others, but the match remained scoreless at halftime.
After getting no opportunities in the first half, North Hills nearly scored the first goal.
Less than two minutes into the second half, after a shot on goal, the Indians were awarded a free kick. The shot hit the cross bar and on the second ball chance, keeper Jordan Beemer was able to make a smothering save.
North Allegheny returned to pressuring the Indians and was rewarded by breaking the ice with a pair of goals in less than a minute.
Addison Vrabel was able to break free in the right side of the box and send a shot towards the opposite side of the goal. North Hills keeper Delaney Amato, who seconds before made a great stop on a Taryn DeWitt free kick, reached to her right for Vrabel’s ball and got a piece of the offering, but it just trickled over the goal line for a 1-0 Tigers lead.
After the ensuing kickoff, North Allegheny stole the ball and sent a through ball down the left channel, which Barsotti gathered after fighting off a defender, and the senior sent the ball inside the far post for her third goal of the year and a 2-0 lead, with both goals coming in the 50th minute.
The Tigers allowed no more chances in posting the clean sheet. North Allegheny (6-2-1, 3-0) now has five shutouts on the year. North Hills, (2-6, 0-4) remains winless in Section 3-4A play.
With the winning goal, her first of the season, senior Addison Vrabel was the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.
North Allegheny hits the road for an away tilt at Pine-Richland on Wednesday, before returning home for a non-section match on Saturday against Moon.
