Rising senior and boys lacrosse captain Ryan Palmer has announced his commitment at the next level.

Palmer announced on Instagram Wednesday that he will attend Florida Southern College to play lacrosse.

“I am excited and humbled to announce my commitment to continue my academic career and play Division 2 Lacrosse at Florida Southern College. First, I’d like to thank God for his guidance. Without him, none of this would be possible. I want to thank my parents and my
sister for their endless love and support from the very beginning. I want to thank my high school coaches, Coach Rullan, Coach Teddy, Coach Kyle, Coach Matt, Coach Crawford, and Coach Hoffman, for shaping me into the lacrosse player and young man I am today. Also, my teammates for their support and competitiveness, making me a better lacrosse player. Thank you to my club coaches, Coach Jason, Coach Kris, and the entire Iron City staff. Also, the Reapers Coaches, Coach Schuler, Coach Hytner, and the rest of their crew, for their knowledge and assistance throughout my recruitment process. I am extremely grateful for your help. Lastly, I’d like to give a special thanks to Coach Ward, Coach McNichol, Coach Jens, and the entire lacrosse staff for blessing me with this amazing opportunity. Go Mocs!”

Palmer was one of the long pole leaders for the squad in the spring, making solid defensive contributions last season. He was named All-WPIAL and first-team All-Section Player for his efforts, while garnering honorable mention All-MSLA laurels as a defender.

Florida Southern competes in NCAA Division II lacrosse as a member of the Sunshine State Conference. The Moccasins were 6-10 last spring, appearing in postseason play. The Mocs beat fifth-seeded Rollins College before falling to top-seeded Tampa in the Conference semifinals.
