Tiger Classic Day 2: Boys finish tournament 4-0, Girls defeat Lower Merion
On the second day of the Tiger Classic both the North Allegheny boys and girls water polo teams played two games. The boys went 2-0 to finish the tournament with a 4-0 record while the girls split the day to go 1-2 in the Tiger Classic.
On the boys side, the Tigers defeated Lower Merion 12-3 in their first match. Filip Malezanov had four goals and two assists for NA. Thomas Bihler added three goals and two steals. Mike Stefanko had 10 saves in goal for the Tigers. In the second match, North Allegheny played a very competitive opponent in Cumberland Valley but the Tigers were up to the task, winning 7-5. Tabari Morgan had four goals and two assists in the match. Logan Purnell had four steals to go along with a goal. Stefanko made seven saves.
The North Allegheny girls water polo team opened the day with a 21-5 win over Lower Merion. Bella Spino led the way with seven goals and two assists. Tori Tieppo had four goals and four assists while Mikaela Dassanaike and Lila Torchia each had three goals. Katherine Vales made nine save in net. In the second match the Tigers would drop a defensive battle to Cumberland Valley, 5-2. Tieppo cashed in both goals for NA. Vales made four saves.
Both Tiger water polo teams will be back in action on Tuesday when they have a girl/boy doubleheader against Cathedral Prep starting with the girls at 6:00 p.m. These matches will be broadcasted live on the NA Sports Network.
