Tigers Beat Spartans To End Regular Season
By: Jared Barton
The North Allegheny girls’ soccer squad ended regular season play with a 6-1 win over Montour at Newman Stadium Wednesday night.
The Tigers dictated pace throughout the first half, holding the Spartans shotless. With just under 14 minutes left in the first frame, North Allegheny found offense from senior Aubrey Wells, who took a shot at a wide angle from the nearside corner that tucked inside the far goalpost. NA extended the lead nearly 11 minutes later when sophomore Kieran Shannon headed an opportunity right in front of the net.
Montour found life to start the second half. Senior Grace Bannon scored on the Spartans’ opening shot, which came via a corner kick. The Tigers wasted little time to add to their slim lead. Shannon scored her second of the night off another header from an Izzy Costa throw-in. Wells scored her second with 9:34 left off a rebound in front of the net. Sophomore Megan Dutkovich tallied the first varsity marker of her career off a corner kick to extend the lead to 5-1. Senior Addy Heim followed suit six minutes later with her own goal from a corner.
