Tigers Capture Derry Invitational Tournament Title

The North Allegheny boys’ volleyball team picked up its first tournament championship of the season by claiming the title at the Derry Invitational on Saturday. After going 8-2 in pool play, the Tigers defeated Altoona 1-0 (25-12) in the quarterfinals and topped Penn-Trafford 1-0 (25-18) in the semifinal round. For the tournament championship, North Allegheny eclipsed the Mars Planets by a 1-0 (25-22) decision.

Leading the charge for the NA attack was sophomore Will Robertson with a team-high 33 kills and five aces. Senior Jeremiah Satcho posted 19 kills, followed by Peter Bratich and Eli Braun with 17 and 14 kills, respectively. Bratich clogged the middle of the net with a team-best 12 blocks, followed by Satcho with seven.

On defense, senior libero Will Hahn totaled a team-best 36 digs. Robertson followed with 22 and senior Nicolas Carioto added 14 digs. Carioto also dished out a team-leading 72 assists, while senior Ryan Quatman distributed 21 assists.

Coming off the Derry Invitational championship, North Allegheny will return to section play on Monday night with home date against the North Hills Indians. The match will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
