The North Allegheny boys’ lacrosse team faced St. Edward (OH) in the MLSA “C” Bracket Final on Saturday morning. The Tigers played tough, but ultimately fell 5-4 at Western Reserve Academy.

St. Edward scored the opening goal of the contest, but NA responded at the end of the first quarter on a goal from sophomore Charlie Jones, assisted by senior Johnny Castillo. Jones opened up the second period with a goal assisted by sophomore Evan Wade to give the Tigers the lead. Junior Mason Brown added a goal from senior Colt Gibson before St. Edward scored late in the half. NA led 3-2 after two quarters.

Gibson connected with Brown for his second of the contest in the early stages of the second half to take a 4-2 lead, but that would be the last offense from NA, as St. Edward added two goals in the third to tie the game and took the lead for good at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

Senior captain Ryan Palmer had two ground balls and three takeaways. Along with Brown’s goals, he also had two ground balls and a takeaway.

Senior Alex Costa made six saves in the net.

North Allegheny takes on Seneca Valley in Harmony on Tuesday night at 7:30 for the final section match of the regular season. NA also plays Norwin at home for a tune-up before the postseason, Saturday, May 9th.
