Tigers Cruise To Victory Over Indians, 9-0
The North Allegheny girls’ soccer team posted its fourth consecutive shutout on Monday night in a 9-0 win over North Hills at Newman Stadium in Section 1-4A action. The Tigers have not allowed a goal in 489 consecutive minutes. Barely tested due to NA’s dominance in possession time, goalies Natalie Rak and Margaret Nestor combined for the shutout.
The win was North Allegheny’s 12th in a row in the head-to-head series with North Hills and marked the fifth straight shutout for NA against the Indians. Over the last five meetings, the Tigers have outscored the Indians, 46-0.
The scoring avalanche for the black and gold got underway with 31:22 on the first half clock when senior Abigail Stager deftly passed to Rowan Barsotti for her second goal of the season and a 1-0 lead. Senior Jadyn Coy scored back-to-back goals to give NA a 3-0 lead and senior Ally Ruiz tallied another goal with 1:07 left in the half for a 4-0 lead.
It was more of the same in the second half as Coy, Sam Braden, Kanak Agarwal, Kieran Shannon and Addison Vrabel all scored goals over the final 40 minutes. Vrabel’s goal was the first of her varsity career.
The hat trick for Coy gives her five goals on the season and 17 in her NA career. For her efforts, Coy was selected as the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in Section 1-4A. North Hills falls to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the section. The Tigers will visit Fox Chapel for another section contest on Wednesday.
