by Jared Barton
The North Allegheny Boys Lacrosse team celebrated senior night with a win over Peters Township, 12-4, at Newman Stadium on Monday night.
Sophomore Jonathan Castillo opened the scoring for the Tiger with just under ten minutes left in the first quarter. Indians senior Roman Marino knotted the game up at one in the following minutes. Back-to-back markers from senior Evan Lyon and a late goal from junior Travis Lamark had NA up 4-1 after one stanza.
Peters Township senior Elliott Schratz cut the lead in half early in the second, but Lyon tallied a hat-trick goal 40 seconds later. Indians junior AJ Vasilko responded a minute later with a goal of his own, but NA took control from that point on. Castillo and Lamark added their second goals of the game, while sophomore Luke Rohan controlled a faceoff and scored in seven seconds. NA led 8-3 at halftime.
Lamark scored a hat trick goal to open the second half, sophomore Nick Sichak scored and Lyon added a fourth goal of the night before the Indians could find life again. Sean Marshall added the lone Peters Township score in the fourth frame, and senior Adam Flavell added one more for the Tigers with less than five minutes remaining.
In net, junior Logan Lyle stopped nine shots, while senior Tyler Eyerman made a stop as well. Junior Colman Craft had a productive day in the midfield with five groundballs and five takeaways.
Fellow seniors Tyler Ruckel, Nick Palone, Aidan Rabenstein, M.J. Schwemmer, Preston Vissotsk, Luca Scolieri, Jonathan Mowry and Sam Graper were all honored before the game and most contributed to the win on the field.
North Allegheny improves to 9-6 overall and next take on Seneca Valley at home Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
