Peters Township came to Newman Stadium for an interesting non-section match against North Allegheny featuring two teams ranked in the top 5.

The top ranked Indians notched and early score and made it hold up, defeating the third ranked Tigers 1-0.

Peters Township took the early lead in the first minute, when Duquesne recruit Fallen Malley picked up a loose ball and slid a shot into the net for her 3rd goal of the season :19 into the match.

Following the early goal, North Allegheny had a good response, but the Tigers could not find the equalizer.

Kieran Shannon missed wide on a free kick in the 7th minute.

Mia Barsotti had a great chance alone from the right edge of the box, but her shot just missed the far post.

Ally Grabowski and Ella Brinkley each had chances to tie the match, but junior keeper Kaylin Hoffman, a Florida State recruit, stopped those chances and kept the Tigers off the scoreboard.

There were less chances to tie for North Allegheny in the second half, but the best opportunity came in the waning seconds.

Hoffman collided with Barsotti at the 20-yard line and was issued a yellow card, bringing backup Vivian Drake off the bench for the Indians.

Sahara Catlos took the direct kick for the Tigers but sent the shot just high and the match ended 1-0.

Peters Township (6-0-1) has now posted a shutout in four straight matches. North Allegheny (5-2-1) saw their string of clean sheets end at two.

Strong play in the midfield both offensively and defensively from Taryn DeWitt earned the Wright Automotive Player of the Game honors. DeWitt, who is committed to Purdue Ft. Wayne, helped North Allegheny push for the tying goal, while also helping to keep Peters Township off the scoreboard after the early goal.

North Allegheny is in action next Monday night when they host North Hills in an AAAA-3 contest. That match is set for a 7:30PM kickoff and can be heard on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
