
Tigers drop non-section tilt to Upper St. Clair

It was North Allegheny from Section 2-3A hosting Upper St. Clair from Section 1-3A in a match up featuring two of the top teams in the classification. The Panthers jumped out to a 5-0 lead, on their way to a 10-7 road victory at Newman Stadium.
Holden Rickel scored 35 seconds into the game and added a second goal with 12 seconds left in the first quarter, sandwiched around a goal by Oscar Leimkuehler for a three-goal lead after one period.
Evan Proud and Nate Haberman padded the lead before Johnny Castillo scored off an assist from Sam Porter to make the score 5-1. Castillo had three assists in the contest.
Nick Sichak’s unassisted tally brought the Tigers within three goals, but Ryan Buonomo scored 11 seconds later, and Charlie Bywalski’s goal 56 seconds after that made the score 7-2 Panthers.
Sichak added two more goals for the Tigers completing the hat trick, with Rickel netting his third of the night and the score was 8-4.
Haberman and Proud each scored their second goals of the game, before Sichak added a pair for his second five-goal performance in the last three games. Sichak, the junior attack, now leads North Allegheny with 16 goals on the season.
Colman Craft scored his third goal of the season to make the final score 10-7.
Logan Lyle made seven saves in goal for North Allegheny, while Tyler Newton stopped eight shots for the Panthers (3-2).
Craft took home the Wright Automotive Player of the Game Honors. The Hobart recruit had a goal and an assist, to go with five ground balls and three caused turnovers, continuing his solid play on the back line and in transition for the Tigers.
North Allegheny (2-3) heads to Cincinnati to face Milford on Saturday before returning home on Monday to host Everest Academy from Canada.
