Butler came into the game at the bottom of Section 2-3A, with the Tigers in first place. Despite that disparity, the Golden Tornado gave North Allegheny everything they could handle at Newman Stadium.

Despite being down several starters, the Tigers (6-6, 4-0) gutted out a 7-5 victory over Butler (4-9, 0-5).

North Allegheny took a 2-0 lead on goals by Jack Dimond, his fourth of the year, assisted by Coleman Craft, and an unassisted tally from Mason Brown.

Butler answered with goals from Preston Simko and Brock Collins to tie the game at 2-2.

Colt Gibson netted his fifth of the year off a Brown assist in the 2nd quarter, and the Tigers went into halftime with a 3-2 lead.

That was the first of four unanswered goals for North Allegheny.

Freshman Charlie Jones scored his second of the year man up from Brown, and Dimond netted his second of the game from Gibson.

When Jacob Clarkson scored his third of the season off a Craft assist :25 into the 4th quarter, the Tigers led 6-2.

Butler netted three straight goals to pull within 6-5 halfway through the final quarter.

But Brown added a man up insurance goal off a feed from Gibson, and North Allegheny remained undefeated in section play with a 7-5 win.

Both goalkeepers played well in the game, with junior Max Wieland making fifteen saves for Butler, and senior Logan Lyle finishing with thirteen stops for the Tigers.

Special teams also played a big part in the victory, as the Tigers scored a pair of man up goals and killed off all seven extra player opportunities for Butler.

With a goal and two assists and a turn at running the Tigers offense, junior Colt Gibson was chosen as the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.

North Allegheny will have a quick turnaround as they host Central Catholic tomorrow afternoon at 1:30PM. The Tigers will also celebrate Senior Day against the Vikings with coverage available on the North Allegheny Sports Network. A huge section matchup awaits next Tuesday as the Tigers visit Shady Side Academy.
