Tigers Edge Foxes On The Road For Section Win, 4-3

Senior Abigail Stager‘s goal with 27:00 remaining broke a 3-3 tie and lifted North Allegheny to a 4-3 victory at Fox Chapel on Wednesday night. The Section 1-4A win keeps the Tigers unbeaten through the first eight games of the season.

The Tigers opened up a 2-0 lead in the early going as Stager scored in the game’s 8th minute and senior Jadyn Coy tallied a marker just three minutes later. Senior Gracie Strzempek added a goal with 13:10 left in the half for a 3-0 North Allegheny lead. However, Fox Chapel began to rally and closed the gap to 3-2 by halftime thanks to a goal by senior Taylor Wilkinson and a penalty kick goal by Kate Friday following an NA foul in the goal box.

Fox Chapel continued its comeback bid in the second half and tied the game at 3-3 to set the stage for Stager’s heroics with 27:00 to play, propelling North Allegheny to its eighth consecutive victory.

With the win, North Allegheny sits at 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the section. Fox Chapel slips to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the section. The Tigers look to extend their winning streak on Monday against Allderdice on the road.
