Tigers Flummox Foxes, 3-0
The North Allegheny boys’ volleyball team earned a home section win on Tuesday night over the Fox Chapel Foxes, 3-0. After a narrow 26-24 win in set one, the Tigers rolled to a sweep with a 25-15 and 25-16 in sets two and three, respectively.
The Tigers’ attack was paced by senior middle hitter Varun Kaveti with a team-high 11 kills. Fellow senior Jax Wilhite notched nine kills, followed by junior Stone Gaertner with eight. Junior setter Nicolas Carioto distributed 38 assists to NA’s big hitters.
Sophomore Matthew LaMay flustered the Foxes with his serves, posting a team-best three aces on the evening. Junior Theo Wilkinson guarded the net with a team-high four blocks, followed by Gaertner with a trio of blocks. Defensively, junior libero Will Hahn totaled 13 digs and Wilhite added 12.
North Allegheny improves to 2-2 overall and in section play. The Tigers will visit Seneca Valley on Thursday in a rematch of last year’s WPIAL championship.
